Frank Faulkner

Frank Faulkner was born on 5th March 1920 at Sutton Weaver, the son of James Faulkner who was born at Sutton Weaver and his wife Margaret (nee Woodier) who was from Preston Brook.  The father was a platelayer employed by the London and North Western Railway at Sutton Weaver.

 The 1921 Census recorded the family as living in Sutton Weaver and at that time, Frank was the only child. 

The next decade saw the family have two more sons and one daughter.  Stuart was born in 1922 and James in 1929, but sadly a daughter named Hilda died in 1928 at the age of 2 years.

The 1939 Register recorded the parents and their three sons living at “Rosslyn” on Northwich Road in Sutton Weaver.  James (senior) was working as a permanent way labourer or ganger, Frank was a bleacher in a heavy leather tanning works and Stuart was a cowman on a dairy farm.  Margaret looked after the household and James (junior) was at school.

Frank Faulkner served in the army in World War Two, in the South Wales Borderers, the Gloucestershire Regiment and the Devonshire Regiment.

Frank’s mother and father passed away in 1970 and 1975 respectively.

Frank Faulkner passed away in 1987 in the borough of Halton at the age of 67 years.
