Reverend William Smith was probably born at Bradfield Green in Minshull Vernon, where his family held land from the Astons.
He was the younger son, and this is probably why he entered the clergy.
He came to All Saints’ in 1704, and on 23 December 1718 he was married by Reverand Thomas Daniell to Mary Darbyshire of Moore.
The marriage was happy but childless and he died in September 1732 and was buried in All Saints’ churchyard.
